"It's no matter, no distance, it's the ride"
Thank you for taking the time to visit our class website!
My name is Daniel Hyden, and I'm excited to enter my fourth year of teaching here in Douglas County. Having grown up in the Carson Valley, I always knew I wanted to teach here after college.
I received a BA in Political Science and a BS in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2011, and I received a Master of Arts in Elementary and Secondary Teaching from Sierra Nevada College in 2014. I hold a K-8 Elementary Teaching License as well as a 7-12 Secondary Teaching License with an endorsement in Social Studies.
Throughout my college years, I spent two years at C.C. Meneley Elementary as the computer technician, and I spent the past several years prior as a substitute, summer school teacher, and credit restitution teacher for the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California. My first official year of teaching was also spent at Meneley teaching 6th Grade English. As my academic and professional experiences reflect, I have an interest in a wide variety of subject areas, which is why I am excited to now be at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, where I teach multiple subjects.
I embrace a teaching philosophy that considers students holistically as young people and not just as pupils. As a result, I enjoy the bonds that form among students, parents, and me as we work together to make each student successful.
Please feel free to send me an email, give me a call or stop by my classroom throughout the year as we work with your student in his or her final year of middle school!
Together in Education,
Daniel Hyden
